This week the Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative would like to close our Women’s History Month series by bringing attention to the dedicated and passionate women across Indian Country who work every day to ensure we have enough food, fiber, and fuel for generations to come. According to the most recent Census of Agriculture, women represent more than 40% of Tribal producers.

IFAI also wants to recognize the women before us who have, since time immemorial, led and facilitated food and agricultural endeavors, as well as the women to come. Indian Country food and agriculture wouldn’t be as strong and vibrant without the past leadership and groundbreakers, and the future of Indian Country food and agriculture looks bright in the hands of our dedicated and passionate youth and young professionals.

To the all the Native women agriculturalists out there, IFAI extends our thanks and admiration.
