🔸 USDA Tribal consultations are set for Oct. 14 & 16. IFAI has analysis on potential impacts to Indian Country.
🔸 IFAI will host a closed Tribal briefing on Oct. 9 for elected leaders and staff ahead of the USDA sessions.
🔸 USDA listening sessions on vet recruitment will be held Sept. 29 & 30.
🔸 Nominations for the USDA Tribal Advisory Committee are open through Oct. 6. Help shape future Tribal ag policy!
🔸 SBA Tribal consultation on access to capital was held last week. Comments accepted through Oct. 17 on reducing regulatory burdens.

Thanks to all the members of NAFDPIR for inviting our policy team to come out and present at this year's annual conference held at Gila River Indian Community. We were able to see many of our Indian Tribal Organization and federal counterparts, while checking out the FDPIR program and even getting over to see Ak-Chin Indian Community's impressive farming operations. We even got to see a haboob hit our hotel.

🔸 USDA is holding Tribal leader consultation sessions on its Reorganization Plan — Oct. 14 & 16. Ahead of the consultation, IFAI will host a closed Tribal briefing for elected Tribal leaders & staff on Oct. 9.

🔸This week, Sept. 18, the USDA Tribal Advisory Committee is holding a meeting. Proceedings start at noon EST, with public comments open from 3-4 p.m. The TAC is also taking nominations for new members through next Monday, Sept. 22, 2025.

🔸There are two Congressional hearings from the House Agriculture Committee over the Specialty Crop Industry and USDA’s Rural Development Agency programs coming up this week. Additionally, there is a hearing in the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs pertaining to the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act.

🔸The Federal Register posted:
- New funding opportunity for Rural Economic Development Loan & Grant Programs
-Final rule on Emergency Livestock Relief Programs

🔸 New Rooted Wisdom episode! Dr. Browning Neddeau (Citizen Potawatomi) shares research on Native imagery on agricultural crate labels.
