The University of Arkansas campus is bustling with students once more as the fall 2024 semester begins. The Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative recently had the chance to welcome new and transferring students during the Native and Indigenous Student A-Week Mixer, coordinated by the Native American Student Services (NASS), Multicultural Center, and the Transition Programs & Initiatives Office.
IFAI staff members Kelli Case, Jamie Black, and Tish Mindemann had the opportunity to share information regarding opportunities for support, professional development, and community.
“As a former student at the University of Arkansas, I look forward to meeting the students and seeing familiar faces of those returning again this year,” said Jamie Black (Cherokee Nation), IFAI Policy Assistant. “I am proud of the services and dedicated staff on campus that want to see Native students thrive.”
The University of Arkansas’ NASS, headed up by Director Gregory Jones (Shawnee Tribe), helps lead the way for Native American student support on campus.
“The NASS mixer was a fantastic way to start the fall semester, and we look forward to ensuring students have access to the resources they need to succeed here at the University or Arkansas,” Jones said.
