🔶 A vote is expected on the 2026 House Farm Bill. We’re also keeping an eye on any hearings on the fiscal year 2027 budget that might impact Indian Country food and ag.

🔸 The USDA is planning some major agency reorganizations, with research offices returning to Kansas City. 

🔸USDA announced plans to reorganize and establish new Food Safety centers.

🔶  There will be a Tribal Interior Budget Council consultation May 19–20

🔸IFAI has some FDPIR Produce Safety Trainings coming up on May 19-20 at Spirit Lake Tribe, and at the NAFDPIR Annual Conference in June.

The Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative (IF The Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative (IFAI) just released a new tracker covering 60 amendments 2026 House Farm Bill that directly impact Tribal Nations and Native producers. From food sovereignty and SNAP authority to clean water and wildfire response, the stakes are high.
